The Oil is burned in France in an old oil lantern that belonged to Leo Depont. Read about the holy life of Leo Dupont HERE. It is then burned in front of the relic of the Veil of Veronica, an icon of the Holy Face and relics of Leo Depont and St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.

Tradition has it that Saint Veronica broke through the mob to console Jesus while He was carrying the cross,  She took off her headdress of fine Egyptian linen and handed it to Jesus to wipe His face of sweat, mud, spittle, and blood. He gave it back to her with His august image impressed on it. His imprint detailed the marks of the fingers of the cruel men who gave the sacrilegious blows. This encounter is represented on the sixth Station of the Cross.

Fr. Peter Mary Rookey Oil

The vial of oil, card and medal were all touched to a First Class Relic of the True Cross.

The relic is contained in a crucifix that was used for many years all over the world by Fr. Rookey as he prayed over people during his healing masses. Fr. Rookey entrusted this crucifix to OSMM shortly before he died and it is displayed for veneration within the Sanctuary of the Sorrowful Mother. Fr. Rookey was the first mentor and spiritual Father for OSMM.  He was instrumental in the development of the ministry.

St. Charbel Relic Oil

St. Chaarbel (Sharbel) relic oil originates from the Maronite Monastery in Annaya, Lebanon.  The oil is soaked in the bones of St. Charbel by the monks of the monastery and then bottled for use.

St. Charbel Makhlouf  was ordained as a priest and monk of the Maronite order in Lebanon. He sought permission and lived as a hermit from 1875, until his death in 1898. His reputation for holiness prompted people to seek him to receive a blessing and to be remembered in his prayers. He lived a simple life, followed a strict fast and was very devoted to the Blessed Sacrament. When his superiors occasionally asked him to administer the sacraments to nearby villages, Charbel did so gladly.

He died in the late afternoon on Christmas Eve. Christians and non-Christians soon made his tomb a place of pilgrimage and of cures as his body was incorrupt and oozed oil which had healing qualities. And so it was for 67 years in modern times that the body of Saint Charbel remained perfectly preserved, the case itself be thoroughly documented and examined by medical professionals and described by all accounts as being supernaturally sustained during this 67 year period. For reasons known only to Himself, God chose not to continue the miracle, and at the time of the beatification in 1965 by Pope Paul VI, the body was found to have finally complied with the laws of nature.

St. Charbel has more miracles attributed through his intercession than any other saint.

St. Rafqa Blessed Soil

This packet contains soil from the grave of St. Rafqa who is known for miraculous wonders.

Rafqa died at the age of eighty-one, four minutes after receiving final absolution. After her burial a light appeared on her grave for 3 nights and the smell of violets emanated from it. She is called “The Flower of Lebanon.”  Over 2,600 reported favors have been granted to those who touch the soil from her grave.

But Benedict made the sign of the cross over the jug, it “broke in pieces,” and (as the Catholic Encyclopedia summarizes) “the experiment failed; the monks tried to poison him, and he returned to his cave,” after which people came to him for guidance as his miracles increased.
